Privacy Policy

Effective 6 November 2026. Applies to the Text to Speech - Read Aloud & Text to MP3 app for Windows published by HAYAH.

The short version

Text to Speech turns text into speech on your own PC. It never uploads the text you read aloud, the files you open or the audio it makes, and it has no account and no advertising. It sends anonymous usage events (which features were used and what happened), which you can turn off in Settings, and a support message only when you choose to send one.

Your text, files and audio

The text you type, paste or drop, the clipboard text you ask it to read with the hotkey, and the files you open (TXT, DOCX, PDF, EPUB, HTML or RTF) are read on your PC. They, the audio files you save and their file names never leave your device. The app writes only the files you ask it to save, plus its own settings.

Stored on your PC

Your settings, any natural voices you download and the random install identifier used for usage events are kept in the app's own storage on your PC. Uninstalling the app removes them.

Network use

Reading aloud and saving audio need no internet connection. The app connects to the internet only for:

Usage events

The app sends anonymous usage events: which features were used and what happened. For example: that the app was opened (with your processor type and Windows build number) and how long it stayed open, how text was loaded (typed, pasted, dropped, read from the clipboard with the hotkey, or opened from a TXT, DOCX, PDF, EPUB, HTML or RTF file) with a rough length band and page or chapter count (never the text, its title or the file name), or that a file could not be read and the general reason (for example "password-protected" or "no text in this PDF"), that reading aloud started or finished, with the kind of voice (a Windows voice by its language code, for example en-US, or a natural voice by its short id, for example af_heart), a speed band and whether the pitch was changed, that an audio file was saved, in which format, how long the audio was and how long saving took, or failed and the general reason (for example "disk full"), that the natural voice download finished, failed (with the general reason, for example "network") or was cancelled, that the free daily export limit message was shown and how many seconds of export were left that day, that something failed and the general reason (an error type name, never a message with your data in it), that the Contact support form was opened or sent, that a setting was changed (which setting and its new value, for example the speed), that an update was offered or taken, or that the rating prompt was shown and its result. Each event carries the app version, the edition, the country as reported by our network provider (Cloudflare) from the connection (your IP address is not stored), a random identifier for that app session and a one-way hash of a random identifier created when the app was installed (the identifier itself is never stored). That identifier is not linked to your Microsoft account.

Events never contain your text, words from it, clipboard contents, document titles, file names, folder names, paths, web addresses, the names of Windows voices, your account name or audio. Our server refuses any event that could carry text. We use the events only to improve the app, keep them for up to 180 days, and do not sell or share them. Events are kept on your PC (a small, bounded amount) until they can be sent, for example when you are offline. You can turn them off at any time in Settings; the app then sends nothing and discards anything not yet sent.

Contact support

The app has a Contact support form. Nothing is sent until you press Send. The message contains the text you write, an email address only if you choose to enter one so we can reply by email, and a few diagnostics (listed below). It never contains your text, file names, folder names or paths: our server refuses any other field. The diagnostics are the app version, your processor type, the Windows build number, the edition, whether Pro is active and the general reason of the last failure. The message is sent to tts.hayah.dev and delivered to HAYAH's support inbox. It is tied to the same random install identifier as usage events, of which the server stores only a one-way hash, so we can show you our reply inside the app. We use it only to answer you and to fix the problem you describe, keep it for up to 12 months, and do not sell or share it. Contact support works even when usage data is turned off. You can also write to us directly at support@hayah.dev.

Diagnostics

Apart from the usage events and the support messages you choose to send, the app sends no diagnostics of its own. Windows may send crash reports to Microsoft according to your Windows diagnostic settings, and Microsoft may share aggregated reports with HAYAH through Partner Center. These contain nothing you read aloud.

Children

The app does not ask anyone, including children, for personal information. The usage events above are anonymous and are the same for every user.

Changes and contact
